    Terrible, Terrible Management

My husband and I chose the Glee apartments on NE 24th and Glisan about a year ago because the location can’t be beat. There is such a diversity of restaurants, coffee shops, and cute shops, and we love the character of the neighborhood.

The apartment itself is fine. We love having a two floor apartment, as it makes the place feel more spacious. There is a serious lack of storage space, but in the scheme of the entire apartment, that isn’t a huge deal, as we installed some things to accommodate more storage. The neighbors around us are friendly and respectful, and the neighborhood is safe and relatively quiet.

Despite these positives, I seriously warn anyone looking into this apartment complex (perhaps anything that is part of ekoHAUS management) to seriously reconsider. The management is so terrible, and dealing with them has caused us so much frustration and stress, that it has made us regret choosing this place as our home. The level of disorganization with their management is abysmal, and they have had incredible staff turn-over in the short time we’ve lived here. I have heard from numerous residents that their sentiments echo ours–the management is really helpful and friendly before you move in, and then it seems like they literally fall off the face of the planet.

Shortly after moving in and getting settled, we realized we needed some maintenance help with the apartment (issues that had been present since move-in or occurred shortly after). We had to submit three maintenance requests over the span of 2.5 months just to get someone to come to repair the maintenance issues. In that time, we called, visited the office, and e-mailed multiple times, and they continued to say someone would be in touch, but that didn’t happen for weeks.

The most serious issue is that we have felt continually harassed by them secondary to issues surrounding their disorganization. For about the last six months, we have received notices on our door saying that we haven’t paid rent for that month (these statements were false). We have clear records of our payment every time…But despite our proof every time, they continue to accuse us of not paying rent. I don’t know where they get confused between us giving them the payment for our rent on time and them believing that we haven’t paid at all. It boggles my mind how much disorganization there needs to be for them being unable to not even track residents’ rent.

In February (it is now March), we received a notice on our door saying that they made a court date to evict us because we hadn’t paid rent for December. Understandably, I was in shock. This was false, because we made the rent payment on time. When my husband went to the office to resolve this, they stated it was January we hadn’t paid for (even though the court document said they claimed December). None of our payments had been late. In addition to their claim being false, the manner that they posted our eviction notice without a prior notice was actually illegal. It took numerous phone calls with the lawyer that was assigned to the case by the management company and numerous attempts to contact management here in order to resolve this issue. This caused us quite a bit of stress, due to the management making false allegations against us and threatening to evict us. They dropped the case when they realized that we hadn’t done anything wrong and we provided proof of our payments
    .
Low and behold, I come home tonight (March 9) to find another notice on our door…It states that we have to go to court because we didn’t pay our rent this month and they are going to attempt to evict us with a forced move-out in four days from now. This notice was posted face-up, clearly for all passersby and neighbors to see, which fuels our frustration, as this feels quite embarrassing. Especially since these claims are not true…WE PAID RENT. I don’t understand how this continues to happen. At this point, we feel harassed, and we are tired of fighting with the management about why we deserve to remain in our home when we haven’t done anything wrong. The anger is mounting, as at this point, we are exhausted. If we could afford to move again, we would.

To anyone looking at renting an apartment here, I know the setting and location are incredible, and the management appears friendly and helpful at first. However, I really advise you to think twice. Like I said, from meeting and speaking to other tenants, their complete disorganization and unavailability is a theme of frustration for everyone. Please, before even considering, think twice about the stress of dealing with a management company such as this.

    be warned

Paying over a grand for an incredibly small studio is already kind of irritating, but hey it’s in a good area and that’s nice. The wine shop attached is really awesome .
There is n0 insulation between you and any one living around you so expect to be constantly emerced in noise, you can even hear cars passing on the street even though I am a very far distance from it and have several walls obstructing the noise.
When I first moved in I found a check list of things needed to be done before my arrival. It didn’t take long to realize that NONE of the things on that list had been done. My shower door is completely about to fall off its hinges, hot water is a joke and I don’t even have a screen in my window (along with other problems) I have requested for matience several times with absloutly no word from anyone, and when I go to try AGAIN to get some of it fixed , their entire website has just disappeared and I have no idea what the new address is.

This entire place is a damn joke. Spend a grand else where.
